Transcan decarbonizes urban deliveries in Nice with Chargepoly
The Nice group specializing in transport and logistics Transcan has installed an ultra-fast electric charging station from the specialist Chargepoly at its warehouse at the Logistics Activity Park (PAL) in Nice Saint-Isidore. Thanks to this and the acquisition of two electric transporters, deliveries made by Transcan in the heart of the city will be 100% carbon-free.
Transcan is moving towards electrification. After converting part of its fleet to B100 biofuel, the regional group specializing in transport and logistics since 2001 is strengthening its CSR ambitions by choosing electric energy for its trucks. The Nice player, which benefits from nearly 100,000 m2 of logistics space in the region, spread over 18 buildings, has just finalized the acquisition of eight masters and two 16-ton electric carriers from the manufacturer Renault Trucks. To supply these two carriers of the diamond brand, Transcan has chosen to turn to another French player: the specialist in electric charging solutions for heavy goods vehicle fleets Chargepoly. The group has just finalized the installation of a station on its 6,000 m2 warehouse located on the Logistics Business Park in Nice Saint-Isidore. The station has 3 terminals which will deliver an installed electrical power of 150kW, allowing the 16 tonnes to be recharged from 20 to 80% in 1 hour 15 minutes. The station was installed in early December, in just two weeks, during the peak of holiday activities. It will be put into operation in the coming days upon receipt of the two electric vehicles.
Cleaner trucks in downtown Nice
Thanks to these two acquisitions, station and electric carriers, the logistician will have the capacity to offer completely carbon-free deliveries in the city center of Nice via its subsidiary Transcan Eco City, specializing in last mile logistics. To carry out these transports, Transcan Eco City receives goods from other colleagues, logisticians and transporters, which it bulks up and sorts automatically from its PAL warehouse. Around 10,000 packages pass through this hub every day. From there, Transcan Eco City groups together the goods which it pools by destination then transports them via carbon-free vehicles (electric carriers) to intercity hubs, strategically positioned in the hypercenters of Nice and Cannes, where the last meters are covered by electrically assisted cargo bikes. Thanks to this intelligent massification of flows, only a few carriers, electric masters and electrically assisted cargo bikes are needed to supply the same delivery point, when previously dozens of diesel trucks were required in circulation. The acquisition of the Chargepoly station and the carriers thus reinforces Transcan's eco-responsible pooling strategy by now allowing it to deliver to the heart of the city using 100% electric power.
“The decarbonization of our transport activity is a strategic subject for the Transcan Group. Installing Chargepoly’s ultra-fast electric charging station is a first step. Our desire is to go even further to meet ZFE traffic rules, develop virtuous urban logistics in our territory and offer our customers 100% clean delivery solutions” testifies Pierre Alexandre Inwiller, development director of the Transcan Group .
