The software publisher PTV Logistics has just put a demonstrator online to facilitate the transport of goods in Paris and its suburbs during the 2024 Olympic Games. Available free of charge on its PTV Developer platform, it makes it possible to dynamically calculate and propose the best delivery routes taking into account traffic restrictions.

In a few months, France will host the Olympic Games which will be followed from August 28 by the Paralympics. From July 1 to September 15, traffic lanes in Paris and its suburbs will be partially or completely closed due to sporting events. Traffic constraints which are not without posing difficulties for deliveries as Sébastien Beolet, software development manager of the publisher PTV Logistics, explains: “In normal times, traffic is already difficult for companies having to deliver to the Island. of France. Due to the supervision of sporting events during the Olympic Games, which will take place on numerous sites, 185 km of lanes will be exclusively reserved for the circulation of accredited vehicles: emergency services, public transport, taxis, security and even the committee organization, in order to ensure their circulation in optimal conditions during the games. If companies do not anticipate these additional constraints, many will not be able to honor their deliveries within the contractual times. »

APIs to increase the potential of business software

To support companies, PTV Logistics has just put online a demonstrator taking into account the complexity of the traffic restrictions, communicated by decree by the government. Available free of charge on the website of its PTV Developer platform, the latter combines the algorithmic power of several APIs from the publisher: Data API for access to a restriction scenario modeling the Olympic routes, Routing API for route calculations using this scenario, and Vector Maps API for map display. Much more than a mapping platform allowing you to visualize restricted routes, the digital tool is based on years of expertise in API development from PTV Logistics. It offers the possibility of estimating the potential impact of the Olympic routes on a given route and dynamically suggests alternative routes in order to avoid them. APIs can be integrated into the business software of shippers, logisticians, transporters and software publishers on the market (ERP, TMS, DMS, FMS, etc.), thus increasing their potential tenfold. The latter can also implement and thus offer their own simulator to their customers during the Olympics or any other event of the same scale.

“Our JO demonstrator is the perfect illustration of our know-how based on 40 years of experience in the latest generation algorithmic components for transport and logistics. With this, we are rising to the occasion of this international event by helping companies anticipate and be ready to deliver, without delay! » concludes Sébastien Beolet.
