To support its growth, the specialist in the manufacture and distribution of rapid diagnostic tests, Biosynex, has chosen to install in its Alsatian warehouse the Impack CVP automated packaging system from Sparck Technologies. Objective: to streamline the shipping package manufacturing process by adopting an automated solution to make custom cartons.

Based in the commune of Illkirch-Graffenstaden, south of Strasbourg, the French laboratory Biosynex has experienced exponential growth since its creation in 2005. This development has further accelerated since the Covid-19 pandemic and the external growth operations carried out in recent years. To cope with the influx of heterogeneous orders sent to pharmacies, hospitals and doctors in France, the diagnostic test specialist chose to install the Impack CVP automated packaging system from the specialist Sparck Technologies. Equipped with two cardboard magazines and two injection stations, it will process up to 490 parcels per hour. The acquisition of the system aims to automate the packaging process by making custom shipping boxes, at the right size of the products (pregnancy tests, Covid-19, blood pressure monitors, paramedical and medical accessories, etc.), carried out until then manually. By reducing the size of packages, the Impack CVP will eliminate up to 90% of the vacuum in the boxes, with the key to material gains, the removal of cushioning products, and better optimization of truck loads and associated transport costs. Installed last April, the Impack CVP will be fully operational by the end of this year, once the implementation of a new WMS has been finalized.

“Our initial feedback is very positive on both the Impack HVAC and the Sparck Technologies technicians. After confirming the order, we were delivered within a few weeks. The installation and handling are up to the promises made. We are delighted with this start of collaboration,” says Gaël Levy, Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Biosynex.

“We are delighted to partner with Biosynex, one of the largest laboratories in France. In addition to the productivity gains, Biosynex will be able to manufacture tailor-made packages that will have an economic and environmental impact directly on its logistics activity. We warmly thank them for their trust,” concludes Dominique Fabre, Head of Sales Development at Sparck Technologies in France.
